Styling Work – HGTV Magazine: Phoenix Bungalow
Oh, I just LOVED styling this home for HGTV Magazine. Every square inch of this 968 sq.ft. bungalow was so thoughtfully designed, with bold punches of color and graphic black and white touches throughout each room. See for yourself how this small home delivers big style!
The little kitchen corner has lots of character with large subway tiles, gray grout, and open shelving. For the styling, I added jars of colorful grains, a tiny pot of flowers on the sill, fresh produce, an old street sign, and the little bicycle artwork from the homeowner, Emily Yeates, collection of found treasures. She had wonderful props to play with!
A talented designer and true diy’er at heart, Emily made many of the art pieces in the home, including tiling the table top, (which seats 8!) the mosaic Oak St sign, and the market sign below in the living room. And isn’t that hanging bicycle sculpture amazing? There were stories about how it was mounted to the roof trusses to keep it secure. 😉
Emily also told me she gutted the bathroom completely by herself…down to the studs, brick wall, and dirt floor. Then proceeded to finish the room off with that playful birch tree wallpaper, barn door shutters, and more of her signature black and white accents.
The backyard is the perfect place to wind down after a long day with it’s canopy covered pergola and twinkly lights! You can see more of her home and read additional details by visiting here.

The cutest place ever! Love the pop of red in every space. You can come style my place anytime =)
Thanks for sharing
Isn’t it adorable?! It was such a fun shoot to work! 🙂
Okay. We’re all in agreement that red knobs on a range are wonderful. I s’poze this vintage (looking?) stove came with them, no? Speaking of red, my bronze-colored metal outdoor barn light arrived yesterday. It needs to be black or red to color-coordinate our house. It was a toss-up before I saw this blog post — now guess which one I’ve chosen! 😉 Good job!
The homeowner bought the stove at a thrift store for under $200 and had it restored. It’s so charming in her kitchen. 🙂
What a great bungalow. It looks so much larger than 968 sq. ft. It’s fresh and open. Great job by all.

It definitely felt bigger than it was. I think it’s because she used larger scale pieces of furniture, and less pieces overall. She created a very open, beautiful home.
What a cute little house, so much character…. I love it! Great job styling it!
Everyone on the crew loved this little home! It was a delight to style!
So great! Where did you find the metal roller storage shelves next to the stove? Great storage idea!
That belonged to the homeowner. 🙂 I believe she bought it at World Market. I’ve also seen similar at Ikea.
