Prop Pantry & Weekend in Review

Heather Bullard | Weekend-4

Did you ever have one of those monumental tasks that felt so overwhelming you thought you were going to loose. your. mind? Me too. For a solid week I’ve been working on going through every single prop I own. Deciding what to keep and what to donate or sell. When we built Grove House, we added two prop storage closets in the studio. One is a large walk-in closet with floor to ceiling shelving and the other is this kitchen pantry. (I’d been holding on to that sliding barn door for 6 or 7 years!) I’ve been slowly, slowly dividing everything up between these two spaces.

This isn’t even half the stuff…out of the picture is the other side of the room, filled with boxes!
I bought two rolling racks from Sam’s Club which fit the pantry perfectly and will allow me to roll them in and out if need be. I also have a large filing cabinet and a place for my photography gear tucked in there…it’s pretty roomy. One day I’ll give you a more in depth tour of the studio and all the props that made the cut.

By Sunday, I could finally see the piles had started to dwindle and I took the day off and went to the farmers market in the morning. Here’s my market report. After that, I spent the rest of the day with a run to Anthro and Sur La Table, arranging some pretty flowers (cell phone shots below) and wandering around the kitchen making messes and other delicious things.

By evening it was time for a hearty salad for dinner with some freshly roasted vegetables, a long walk with my Mr. and watching Shawshank Redemption for the umpteenth time.
All in all, a pretty good day of rest.

PS. Between posts you can find me on Instagram (heatherbullard) sharing highlights of daily life.

Heather everything you doing is just down right beautiful…can hardly wait to see what’s next. And here I was waiting to “win” the barn doors..hehehe:) I love your blog…so inspiring:)

Thank you so much, Rita. It’s going to take time to finish all the decor in the house but it’s coming together.
That barn door has been waiting years for a use! We purposely built the pantry to fit the door! 🙂

Thank you, Kelly. It’s readers like you, who take the time to say hello, that keep me going with this little blog. xo

Heather, if you are planning a yard sale, let me know and I’ll b right up!! Of course, I don’t NEED anything that’s for sure. Yes, I do have some monumental tasks staring me in the face, like scanning and organizing all our photos. Ugh.

    • Heather Bullard

Haha! Not sure I’ll have one. I’m going to donate a ton of it and maybe sell a few big things on CL. And organizing photos….don’t even get me started. I feel your pain! Good luck! 😉

What a smart storage area! I will love seeing your more in depth tour of the studio. We are thinking of flipping some rooms here so that I can have more storage for all my props here, so please keep the ideas coming. Your vegetables look delicious (and I am usually only a fan of desserts! 🙂 )

    • Heather Bullard

I never trust someone who doesn’t like dessert! 😉
Will share more as we get more settled in…it’s definitely a process. Thanks for saying hello!

So kind of you, Andrea. It’s been a labor of love and feels very rewarding that it can be inspiring to others in any way. Thank you.

It seems that many on the internet are paring down. I have been selling things on eBay and giving items to willing friends whenever possible. It actually feels very good to know what I have and where to find it. Your storage space looks like it will be easy to keep organized once you decide what you want to keep and the rest is gone.

P.S. The roasted vegetables look delicious.

Isn’t it the best feeling? Sort of like a marathon…lots of struggle during but elation afterwards!

Love your take on the barn doors & have always wanted to incorporate them into our home. Someday I may have the chance due to losing our log home in January this year. So I’m enjoying following you on Instagram and filling up my camera roll with snippets of your look for a new dream home someday! Thanks for your inspirations! And best wishes on the clean out too!

I so want to come shop your props. First up that pink wire basket! So much loveliness. It sounds like a lovely weekend although I crazy love organizing things!

Oh how I’d love to take a peek at your prop pantry… love your style! And that barn door… going on my “someday dream home” board for sure. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home.
