Every summer, Labor Day fast approaches and we try to squeeze in the last drops of summer fun. Usually, we have a barbecue with family and friends, but this year, The Man and I decided to sneak off to Carmel. We stopped in Tancedi & Morgen so I could get my antiquing fix and I was able to take some photos to share with you. Come along with me! You’ll see how charming it is…

Roger and Marsha Alldis have owned the shop over 27 years and it has become a destination for antique lovers all over the world. Throughout the year, they travel to Europe and the east coast to find unique goods to bring back and fill the shop with inspiration for their customers.

This display of arrows certainly has me inspired to start a collection.
One of my favorite spots is the tiny closet in the two photos below. I love the deep, dark navy color! It really makes all the white china and pottery stand out.

They have gorgeous assortment of textiles, ranging from blankets to tablecloths and everything in between. And a small clothing line with beautiful cotton and linen pieces.

The jewelry is also hard to resist….

They had just received a new shipment with a large variety of antique pottery from France. The colors were stunning…warm golds, rich browns and yellows, and vibrant greens.

The shop is nestled in the Carmel Valley in an old building that Roger believes might have been the caretakers ranch house from years past. They’ve added large pots of succulents to the front porch…and a small tomato garden that we were allowed to pick from. (Although, I’m not sure that’s standard procedure.) We were grateful and enjoyed them later with our beach picnic spread.

If you’re ever in Carmel, I hope you have time to stop by to get your antiquing fix!

Oh dear, always wanted to visit Carmel. My daughter lives in San Diego but she is coming back East next year…. her significant other just got a job opportunity with Patagonia, it will keep them in the East Coast for at least 2 years…. they will return so I hope to visit someday….. she so loves California…..

    • Heather Bullard

California is a dreamy place…hopefully they will love their new adventure on the east coast and come back to visit soon! How fun to work for Patagonia!

I remember when Tancredi & Morgen were featured in Victoria Magazine years ago. It will definitely on our list to visit next year!

Carmel is a favorite destination for me and my hubby. Tancredi and Morgan is the one place we always stop by when we are there. In fact two of their beautiful pillows grace my family room chairs in the Fall and Winter. Love them and their store, they are always so welcoming and generous with information and the pieces in their store are not to be missed. Thank you for sharing, we have not been down there in awhile and I need my Carmel and Tancredi and Morgan fix!

Oh my! I lived not too far from here years ago… Monterey to be exact back in 88 while going through DLI. I would have loved this shop! We live in a middle sized town in central Indiana now with a few, alright antique shops but this, this is truly a dream shop! If I ever make it back out I will definitely be stopping in!

    • Heather Bullard

It should definitely be on your list the next time you are in the area! It’s such a wonderful little place.

    Heather,
Mr. B and I have been to Carmel many times, it’s one of our favorite getaways. Sadly, we’ve never visited this shop. I can’t believe it! Maybe we stick to the main street too much. Tancredi Morgen will be top of the list next visit, thank you for the tour.

Yes, it’s a few miles from the main center of town. There’s also a few organic farmers markets and a mission nearby to visit. The perfect Sunday drive!
