Corner of My Home: Antique Swedish Cabinet

Cabinet0219
Hello, hello! Today I thought I'd show you one of my favorite finds…an antique Swedish glass front cabinet. I stumbled upon it while out shopping with my mom and sister. It's funny how things find you when you least expect it.

The interior was painted hot pink but it didn't distract me from seeing it's potential. I absolutely loved the clean lines, original wavy glass and authenticity. With a quick check for measurements I knew I had the perfect spot for it nestled between two windows.

After we hauled it home I repainted the bright pink with Borrowed Light by Farrow & Ball and applied a light wash of Antiquing Glaze to give it a worn appearance. The pale blue gray color really helps showcase the display pieces.

For summer I've filled it with ocean inspired items such as sea shells, old glass bottles, ironstone, books and a small ship painting. I know I'm going to have fun changing things out with the seasons. Let the collecting begin!

I believe the cabinet may have been painted long ago since you can still see tiny remains of paint in the cracks but I admire and appreciate the natural patina of the wood. And the door handles may not be original but they are still very lovely with their worn brass finish.

For now the top is piled high with hydrangeas from my garden. I'm sure those will be replaced with seasonal greenery. But today…summer is still hanging on.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a fabulous Monday!
