A Southern Adventure
I’m packing for an early flight tomorrow. I’ll be heading to the beautiful state of Tennessee to visit the famous Blackberry Farm and attend the International Biscuit Festival. That’s right, an entire festival devoted to biscuits! Can you imagine?
I’ll be sure to take lots of pics for you because….
If you know of any other “can’t miss” stops in the Knoxville area, I’d love to hear about them!

I love biscuits but no gravy, LOL – have a fabulous time, it is so green and beautiful.

You are speaking my language and in my neck of the woods! The weather has been beautiful this week. I have friends that have been to this farm and love it. I am sure you will have a wonderful time. I look forward to seeing your pictures. The US 11 Antique Alley and Yard Sale is going on this weekend. It runs 502 miles through the backroads of the the Appalachia. It goes through Knoxville. It’s only once a year. Have a great visit to the South!

So envious! My sister went to UT for her PhD and we LOVED sampling all the great food and fun out there! I hope that festival is new, because if we missed a whole festival devoted to biscuits, we should be ashamed of ourselves. Have fun and enjoy!

They had a cornbread festival just a few weeks ago in South Pittsburg (near Chattanooga) It’s home of Lodge Cast Iron. The only place still making cast iron skillets! I think I’m going to have to go next year! It’s only 45 minutes away!
My husband would be all over that one! He loves cast iron and has quite the collection. You should definitely go!
I just did some reading up on BlackBerry Farm…..sounds heavenly!!! Can’t wait to hear about your visit. What a fun couples retreat or all girls weekend that would be….hmmmm. May have to add that to my bucket list. ~ Kim
I’ve heard so many wonderful things about Blackberry Farm. Can’t wait to explore the grounds and have dinner in the barn. It was on my bucket list too! 🙂

Greetings from Knoxville. My office is half a block from the center of the Biscuit Festival. Make sure you stop in at Bliss (they have 2 shops on Market Square) and visit Pete’s Coffee Shop and Trio’s. Both are places where everyone knows your name.

Oh my Heather!! Looks like you’re gonna be taking a trip to Biscuit Heaven! I have the Blackberry Farm Cookbook and have drooled over all the gorgeous photos of that amazing place! Yes, I can imagine a biscuit theme. I adore them with jams, honey, gravy… I am a good baker, yet I have never mastered the biscuit. I can’t get the ‘break’ in the middle. I have tried many different recipes and many different ingredients. It is so frustrating. I’ve tried not overworking the dough etc. P;ray tell us if you find an answer at Blackberry Farm.

You’re going to have one fabulous weekend! And a great big welcome to you from a native east Tennessean! The Inn at Blackberry Farms is famous for the food and the scenery. And the biscuit festival…the name says it all! I’ve been to the festival for the last 2 years but will be out of town for this one. 🙁 You’ve never seen so many versions of biscuits! Two names you have to try while you’re here: Benton’s bacon and Cruze Farms. I think both are used at The inn at Blackberry Farms, and they will be found at the festival as well. Cruze Farms has fresh buttermilk and to-die-for ice creams. And bacon always makes everything better, escpecially Benton’s! Oh, and Bliss (shop) and Tupelo Honey Cafe on Market Square are must see’s as well. Have a wonderful trip! ~ Angie

I am so jealous!!! I have been wanting to go to blackberry farm for awhile! I’m hoping me and my hubby will be able to go next year! If we can get through the last year of his school! Have fun! And eat a biscuit with butter and orange marmalade for me!:)
I live in California and try to visit Blackberry Farm once a year. Once you’ve been there you dream about going back. My favorite spot to shop is Southern Market in Knoxville. They are so sweet and there is so much to see. Hope you’re having a great time!

Wow..that is a loaded question! I am a big fan or shrimp and grits…YUM! I live in Miami, and good shrimp and grits are hard to come by.

I LOVE pecan pie!!! That is my all time favorite southern food. And barbecue too.
