Pantry & Storage Ideas

When designingย Grove House, I made sure there would be plenty of pantry and storage space. I want to be able to accomodate everything without having to store items in the garages.
So, there will be three pantry / storage rooms in the house. One in the kitchen, one in the studio for props, and one near the main garage entrance for bulk and seasonal things.

The kitchen pantry will be behind a shaker style, white laminate glass door but will have plenty of open shelving space to keep things within easy reach. And although I love these subway tiled pantries, we won’t be adding that detail. We do plan on using reclaimed lumber for some of the shelving, adding pendant lighting, and installing a skylight.

The studio will have a combination of storage spaces…a pantry room, open shelving in the kitchen area and cupboards to house my prop collection and help organize my inventory.

I really like these cubbies with their vintage metal labels. I’d love to incorporate this look somewhere, maybe the pantry room. And I’ve always been drawn to this wall of dishes and rolling library ladder. I’m not certain I want to be looking at so much “stuff” all the time so this may need to be behind closed doors. But isn’t it lovely?

And the clean lines and simplicity of this shelving unit are nice. I like the mix of wood and white.

Of course, I can’t wait to use all my glass jars, baskets and crates to store everything in.
Those I already have…in spades!

Hey Heather! These images are absolutely delightful! I’m so excited you are sharing your home planning journey on your blog! I love all of your ideas and can’t wait to see how your dream home unfolds! My hubby and I hope to build another home down the road, so watching your creative wheels turn is so fun! I’ll be gathering lots of inspiration for sure! Are you building a farmhouse or a different design? Sending sugar and hugs!

      Hi Ruthie!
We’re building sort of a hybrid…part farmhouse, part cape cod but with a modern interior. Hard to describe, but I’ll be sharing my process as we move forward. I think it will all come together…just lots of details and planning to consider. Not to mention, sourcing antique and vintage materials!

I know you and your husband will build another amazing home! Your current one is beautiful! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Heather,
Lucky you to be planning your kitchen with plenty of storage. I long for more storage, but our kitchen remodel didn’t afford us much more than we had before. These are great images of shelves and storage space.

Thanks Karen! Trying to plan ahead, for ways to hide all that “stuff”!

I currently have two pantries – one in the kitchen and one located in the laundry room where I keep platters, large bowls, serving pieces, etc. but because it doesn’t have a door front I’m constantly dealing with dust. I swore I was going to drap everything with sheets! I’m so looking forward to reading about your new home journey. Thanks for letting us venture along!

I would love to know the source of the reclaimed wood storage pantry in your post. I love the combination of doors and drawers. Thanks!
