my favorite fourth of july treat is just what you showed in your photo … watermelon! nothing is better on a hot summer evening than a sweet, juicy, chilled piece of watermelon! my nana’s potato salad has to be a close second though!

  2. Lori-Anne

Can I change the question just a little bit? Since I’m Canadian and our Big Day is just a couple of days earlier (July 1), I’ll tell you what my favourite food to eat then is: Pancakes with fresh strawberries and whipped cream (red and white, like our flag). I think if I was American I’d make it even BETTER with strawberries, blueberries and whipped cream – red white and blue! Oh, yummers!

  3. Jamieng

Just posted this giveaway on my FB. Can you tell that I thinki this is a fabulous giveaway?! BTW, Jamie and Jamieng are both me, switched profiles on accident 🙂

  4. Connie

I think my favorite is strawberry shortcake – made with homemade biscuits and whipped cream.

  5. Journal

S’mores is my favorite. Every year, we try to think of new yummy combinations in addition to the traditional s’more. My favorite new combo is Peanut Butter cups, marshmallow and graham cracker.

  6. Amy

Oops, my first post didn’t take…
Homemade ice cream with fresh peaches on top!

  7. Lynn@HappierThanAPigInMud

Has to be watermelon! We always got the long ones when I was a kid and Ma would cut the end off and I’d eat it with a spoon like it was a bowl!

  8. Lynn@HappierThanAPigInMud

I’m a follower too (love your chicken coop!). Thanks for the fun give-away!

  9. Comrade Ade

Who doesn’t love the good ol’ Star Spangled 4th of July Angel Food Cake?!? (maybe some sangria with fresh fruit to go along with it!)

  10. Jenny

My mother’s birthday cake! I make it for her every year, with sparklers, instead of candles. It has been a tradition throughout her life, since she was a little girl. Her mother made it for her back then, when the whole family got together in Luna Pier, MI, to celebrate the 4th of July on the water. I took it upon myself in recent years to take over the tradition, and I know how much my sweet Mama looks forward to it, and the memories it brings back each time.

  19. Carol Casey

My middle daughter is a 4th of July baby. And when she was small she thought any time there were fireworks it must be her birthday. She will be 25 this year and we still have to have a big birthday bash for her complete with hot dogs and a huge cake. She graduated from nursing school in December and will have to work this year on her birthday, but we’re going to celebrate a couple of days early so that she can still have family around.
    Smiles,
    Carol

Homemade ice cream…it wouldn’t be the 4th without it!

  22. Mari

Im Canadian and we celebrate Canada day on the 1st, however I do have American friends and one year they had the most amazing crayfish bake (cray fish, potatos, clams and corn) and it was all over the table (on news paper) and it was the best time I had in years. For dessert they served strawberry short cake, with real cream… It was so good : ) So we’re doing it here for July 1st.

  23. Susanne

Hey, I’m following you on Google now. Actually it’s got a couple things I use like the currency and language converters, who know it could be so convenient?!
We used to camp alot when we were kids, so of course we’d be camping for the 4th. One of the things we used to make was “pudgy pies”. 2 slices of buttered bread with pie filling in the middle placed in a little cooker thingy you’d put in the camp fire. Cook each side a few minutes and pop it out. Hot and nummy.
Thanks for a chance at the give away, Susanne.

  24. Katie

The 4th of July is my favorite holiday next to Christmas. My oldest daughter was born on the 4th and it hasn’t been the same since. The 4th wouldn’t be perfect without an iced cold watermelon cut in perfect little cubes! YUMMM! I am not joking when I say I can eat the whole thing! Deviled eggs are also a delicious side for the 4th. EVERYTHING is good when it is shared with wonderful friends and family!
    Have a FUN 4th!
