24 Hours Antiquing in Portland
The adventure started with a phone call on Friday from my friend Serena.
It went something like this:
S: What are you doing tomorrow?
H: Ummm, errands and stuff. Why?
S: Want to go to Portland?
H: Sure!
And before you knew it we were both flying to Portland early the next morning!
Our first stop was the Junk Salvation show where I picked up a few treasures…
I found a couple bread boards (my ultimate weakness) and really wish I could remember the vendors for you. The cute candles were from Roost and because I’m completely infatuated with these trophy cups…I bought one for myself from Ormolulu.
Next was lunch at Mothers Bistro which was delicious. Their place is amazing…loved the decor! After that we hit Monticello Antiques where I picked up a utensil crock and Madison Park where I bought the wood drapery rings and the barber shop bottle. I’m going to use it for oil or vinegar. We also stopped by Stars Antiques and a new favorite place Marguerite! Sorry, no photos or website but imagine all things French in the best possible way.
Real French. Not the pretend stuff. 😉
And because this wood pedestal bowl was HUGE and heavy…I couldn’t fit any more in my carry on bag. Which pretty much ended the shopping fun for me.
The next morning we headed to the airport and were both home by noon.
And so goes the tale of our spur-of-the-moment, 24 hour antiquing adventure.
Have you ever gone on a spontaneous adventure with your friends? It kind of reminds me of my college days where we’d head to the beach at 1am. I’m too old for that now. But I could do 1pm…anyone game?
PS. The 5 Country Living Magazine winners are announced here!

love it ALL! I am so in love and yearning for a breadboard like that!!
It was great running into you and Serena at Junk Salvation. Glad you had a great time in Portland. Sometimes those spontaneous adventures are the best. Florence
Oh darn! I live in Oregon and would have loved to have met up with you.I know those hot spots very well! Fabulous fun in Portland Oregon, love to call it home. You found some great treasures for sure~Cheers Kim
How fun and great finds too.
My husband’s heading to Oregon for a business trip, perhaps I should tag along and check out Marguerite if it’s close by, thanks for the tip!
Yes, I could do the 1 PM beach trip. Definitely love my sleep these days, need it to get up early to flea!
Hey Heather…loved meeting you and Serena at Junk Salvation. Was the bowl you bought from me the troublemaker? Are you coming to Monticello’s garden show in April? Hope to see you there. BEAUCOUP/Susan
Absolutely!!! My girls know all they have to do is ask and my answer is “just let me get my purse ”
You got some great stuff!
Oh yes! Ours is not really spur of the moment though. It’s The Farm Chick Show all the way from Florida. A few people(husbands) think we are crazy, but we save our booth money and Fancy Flea money so we can go!! My 5th year in a row!!!
I love that you were here in my city! The energy has seem more charged lately. 🙂 xo
I love that you visit my show every year! I can’t wait to see you again in June. 🙂 xoxo, Serena
So much fun stuff!!!! I love that you visited Sarah’s booth (Roost) . She is so talented and always has such beautiful displays. Glad you got to visit some fun places in PDX! 🙂
I found out about Madison Park antiques last year when I attened Portland Expo.
I could have taken home everything in Randy’s shop. I did buy several bags old old lace.
Spontaneous outings make life sweet…..your finds are fun

I design and sell mini bread board sets on Etsy. They sell out each week. They are also a weakness of mine. Love all your finds!
We were so excited to have you and Serena visit our Junk Salvation show! You two are on our VIP list!! Here’s an idea…you gals make plans to come to our Austin show in April and we promise to show you a real JUNKIN’ good time. But remember what happens in Austin…will probably have to stay in Austin! tee hee.
Cheers to the Junk Sisterhood!!

I’m on a re-newed quest for trophy cups! 😉 These days, I’m pretty much tied down to the farm, but, I have a few local haunts I love to visit. It’s awesome to keep close with girlfriends!
I bet you girls had a grand time. 🙂 Blessings, Kimberly
Sounds like a fabulous trip- I just kick myself though- my Daughter has lived in that area for 12 years….and I knew nothing of these stores….and now she is moving…. just my luck.
Thanks for sharing- I pinned these stores so if I ever go there again =)
Every year when I’m in Portland we have to eat breakfast at Mothers Bistro, great food but I love the antiques on display!
Hi Heather! It was nice to meet you & Serena at the Junk Salvation Show. You bought the very well used blackened bread board from our booth – Found for your Home. I’m Naomi & Emily is my partner. We were excited to see pics of it on your blog! I have to admit we were a little starstruck to meet you both 🙂
Next time you’re in Portland make sure to also checkout the Oregon City Antique Mall too! Hope our paths cross again!
Nothing like a spontaneous adventure to get a girl inspired! Wonderful to lay eyes on both of you! Until our paths cross again…
What a great trip! Love Portland, so many wonderful stores and restaurants.
Love your photos.
Jody

LOVE you girls!!!

Awe Heather, those are the “BEST” trips.
Thats just what Susie and I did when we jumped in the car and drove to the Farm Chicks show last summer. What a trip…18 days out on the open road! I would not trade that time with my sister for nothing in the world. One day we will get to catch up with you and get to have lunch. We are going to Austin,TX for the Country Living Fair..hope to see you there.
Have a fabulous weekend,
Melissa
I’m def too old for the 1 am beach run and pretty much too old and un spontaneous to respond to a day before portland trip (not old, but not flexible like you) Looks like you snagged some great stuff though so it was def worth the trip.

We all need to be more spontaneous!!! I was just at the Long Beach, Ca flea market this morning looking for worn cutting boards and trays…no luck 🙁 My friend got a cute bamboo bar cart for $65 though.
Thanks for sharing! My sister and I are heading down to the Portland area for a visit to Monticello Antiques in May so will try and pop into some of the other places you mentioned if we get a chance!
Heather,
I was so excited when you and Serena visited my booth at the Junk Salvation show, and you emerged with the bread board. That board would go on to do some great things with your lovely photo shoots. Thank you so much for your spur of the moment visit to Portland. I think being spontaneous is always the best!

The pictures of the lemons just make me smile. Love your use of colors.
