Stylist Secrets: The Tool Bag
I thought it might be fun to show you what I carry with me to shoots. Like a grade school show-n-tell post. On location, I bring two Canvas Riggers Bags that are super tough & durable…love them! They still look great even though I've had them for years. I keep tools in one and props, paperwork & computer stuff in the other. Today it's all about the tools…
Garden clippers, several flower frogs, a wire paddle and florist tape (not pictured).
Masking tape, double sided tape, assorted twine, various nails & screws.
A small hammer, phillips & flathead screwdrivers, bulldog clips and a spool of fishing line.
Poster tack in different widths and mounting squares. Both are great for tacking up photos or artwork and keeping picture frames or fabric pieces in place.
My hot pink scissors so I don't loose them, a stapler, straight pins and plate & picture hangers.
A tape measure, calculator, handi wipes, trash bags and the ever important glue gun.
A few other things I bring are paper towels, extension cord, duct tape, windex, spray can of air, micro fiber cloth and a steamer or iron if needed. There's probably a few other things I forgot to mention but this is the majority of it. Hope you enjoyed a little peek into my bag of tricks!

What a great tool bag! I love that it has lots of little pockets and lots of room for big stuff. I’m adding this to my wish list.
Love it! Thanks for sharing! I so need a stylist to carry around a bag like that… 😉

Just printed the first issue of Souvenir! It’s Deeeelicious! 🙂
I absolutely love that tool bag. It would be great for quick get-aways…big enough for everything I need but small enough to be easily transported. Thanks.
Hi Heather,
I’ve been following your blog for a while now, and I always enjoy your posts. Today I got my first copy of Souvenir and just wanted to let you know how exquisite it is! I can’t wait to devote some time to a closer read!
Hi Heather,
Goodness gracious what a wonderful tote bag filled with great ideas. The bag is fabulous and could be used for all sorts of wonderful things – most of them would be very practical just to have around the house ( I am ordering one to put my art supplies in when I paint on location). Thank you for sharing.
Have a lovely day.
Blessings,
Erin
P.S. I have not been able to open my issue of Souvenir – my computer keeps saying “connecting”. I can’t wait to get it open.
Heather, I can’t open my issue of Souvenir.??? Can you help a girl out?

I would like to know what the wire paddle is for? I’m sure it is something obvious that I just haven’t thought about it and will feel pretty stupid when you tell me….HaHaheheheh….
Interesting! Love the peek
Thanks for the bag recommendation! I have been searching for one like this for my tools for a while. Perfect! And I love the simple canvas look.
Wow…makes my rubbermaid look pretty bad. I think I should ramp up my game!
You rigger bag is great! I have a similar smaller bag that I keep in the front seat of the car to catch all those little odds and ends I need close by and accessible like bottled water, sunglasses, lotion, notepad, pens, coffee shop gift card, outgoing mail and whatever else I need for the day. It keeps things all together and I can quickly move it to the backseat or trunk if needed. Thanks for the resource at a great price!
Thank you so much for sharing all this super useful info! I am becoming more serious about my photography, and will be assembling my tool bag lickety-split.
Congratulations on the first issue of Souvenir! It is wonderful and such fun reading. Thank you for sharing. Best wishes on your continued success.
Heather,
Thank you for the first issue, love the photography. Have to get back and read it all now.
Send your Mother my best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Heather- just printed up Souvenir – A Seasonal Lifestyle Gazette….Oh my goodness you gals are awesome…..that was the best thing ever. You gals are so generous to share something so divine.

Never heard of a riggers bad before. But it seems like it’s a great bag for you to put all your goodies you may need on a shoot.
I signed up for the first issue of Souvenir, but it won’t load up for me. Any idea why? I resigned up hoping that might help, but it’s not working.
Your canvas totes are so cool.
I’m a curator for our local county museum. I stash all of my “tools” in a bright yellow tool box. Can’t get lost with such a bright color!
Keep up the good work!
You have the most gorgeous and elegant blog. This post is my favorite so far. It helps me see what is needed to do what you do. It gives me a glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes. It gives me hope that I can imitate and achieve a small portion of your perfection. Thank you. Please tell us more……

When I had my Civil War book business and worked at shows and seminars, I had to carry similar items. I sure could have used a bag like that, though. I put all my stuff in large tackle boxes. Love your idea!!!!!
Hi Heather,
I have a canvas bag I typically use for my tools. But ohmygoosh !! I love all the pockets and handy items, you have! I love to be “WITH TOOLS”.
