Behind the Name

Do you have a favorite collection? Most of you who read my blog know that I adore collections. Everything from ironstone to breadboards to antique linens and more. I love them all. One of my earliest collections started with Souvenir postcards. I've been gathering them for over 20 years. Often times they'll have the iconic horseshoe graphic and on occasion, a handwritten message on the back. Those would be my favorite.

Because of my decades long collection, the word Souvenir has always had a special place in my heart. It stirs up emotion for me and I have always known I would use it someday for something. And it seemed a perfect fit for my Seasonal Lifestyle Gazette.

The first edition of Souvenir will be heading to inboxes within the week. Have you signed up?

Can’t wait for “Souvenir”! By the way…thanks for mentioning me with a line or two under “what’s your nickname” in the latest issue – I will forever be known as the “junk fairy” now LOL! LOVE the magazine by the way!

awesome collection idea… yeah I collect… (dont we all :p). I collect mint green norwegian porcelain from the 50’s, called “figgjo”. They have so many patterns, but most of them are in a gorgeous green colour (and other pastels). I have collected for years, and when I finally bought the cottage my colorscheme was inspired by these pieces. I don’t display them as well as I should though… or at least I feel I dont. I also collect old artist signed equine postcards (a relative new collection spurred on by my hallway renovation where I will be displaying them) and old horseshoes 😀

Hearing stories like where the title of the gazette originated is what makes these online gazettes so enticing. I love hearing the behind the scenes stores. The name Souvenir will always have a special meaning now when I see it. Can’t wait.

I love the word souvenir, too. I have a blog just for my antique postcard, photo and ephemera collection. Looking forward to your newsletter.

I have been out of touch with the blog world for far too long! I just learned of Souvenir & of course instantly signed up. Any chance the issue is still available? I am always inspired by the lovely ladies who contributed. Thanks in advance 🙂
