Ink & Peat
Hands down, one of the best parts of my job is all the shopping. Lots and lots of shopping. I get the opportunity to see some of the most fabulous shops and boutiques across the country and my visit to Ink & Peat in Portland was one of those magical places.
The first thing I noticed was the color. There was a beautiful wash of lovely color throughout the store. Amazing turquoise, sage greens, poppy, crimson and pinks were scattered among the displays. It was absolutely refreshing!
There was a wonderful selection of quilts and blankets made from vintage saris and an incredible assortment of soaps, candles, stationery and handmade pottery. And in addition… they offer gorgeous florals for every occasion!
Everything was so thoughtfully selected and merchandised. It is the perfect place to find a gift for a friend or pick up a great book for yourself.
And don't you just love this amazing chandelier? The simple design with it's mass of bulbs is so striking. I'll take one of those please. The shops mix of modern, industrial and vintage was not only unique but was also displayed creatively.
And I cannot go without sharing with you the owner and creator…dear Pam. Here she is cutting and prepping my flowers for my shoot. She graciously drove me to the Portland Flower Market so I could choose the perfect blooms and then helped by preparing them for their car ride to the coast. Such a warm, friendly lady with an amazing eye for detail and beauty. Her shop is a true gem and a reflection her spirit and talent. If you're visiting Portland be sure to make time to visit and if you're unable to make the trip you can follow Pam on her blog housemartin.

love love love the anthro-feeling!
I am a huge fan of Pam’s blog – how wonderful for you to have the opportunity to visit in person!!!
Everthing is so lovely. Wish I could get back to Portland just to stop in there and give it a sniff. I’m thinking it smells as good as it looks.
Lovely place.
Just found your site and am very excited to perouse! Just wondering…is there a list of flea markets or similar type stores on your list anywhere across the country. I am sure you are an amazing resource for where the best places are! I love finding these places when we go for long drives (which is often)…I am especially curious about the I-81 corridor from Pennsylvania to North Carolina!
…thanks for the heads up!
I live in Portland and have never been to this store, so I think I may have to check it out this weekend. Can I just tell you that I am pining after some of those earrings! So beautiful!!!
how precious! that just makes me so happy. Thanks for sharing!
I had the opportunity to visit Ink + Peat several months after they first opened and fell in love. Pam was so gracious as I shyly asked if I could take photos.
The shop has a wonderful aesthetic as you mention and that chandelier- I took many a photo of that alone. The giftware selection is amazing!
The floral offerings and pricing were so lovely and reasonable, if I lived in POrtland it would be my “official” place to get blossoms.
Ooh, I see you carry my absolute favorite lotions. Everything looks so wonderful…I could spend all day there.
Gorgeous. That chandelier is great as is the old settee. I hope to visit Portland soon and hop in this great shop. Thanks for sharing!
LOVE the settee….only partially recovered. What a quaint and great idea!
Just lovely ..I am really having a thing for colors lately ..Maybe you’d like to come shop the Barn at Boise Creek .wa. 3rd weekend in August.
I love color, and the mix that Pam has in her shop is magical! I’m going to check out her blog next….it should be a great place to spend some time this evening.
It really is stunning. This lovely store reminds me of Anthropology but better!
Shopping Heaven!!
I do store display and have to say that this is one of the best I have seen. Love it.
Wow…lucky you to spend your time going to fabulous little shops like that!!!!
Heather,
Love all the pics…It’s always a joy to see all your great ideas and fun places you get to go…Your my daily fix…
Hi Heather, just wanted to stop by and say hi and tell you how much fun I had seeing you at Barn House. My only complaint is that I didn’t get to spend enough time with you. So glad you had a good time in the PNW. Come back any time. Would love to try to “do lunch” like we talked about.
XO,
Lisa

What a lovely place! smiles.
Hi Heather, I recently visited Portland and Seattle. It was my first trip north from where I am in California and I have to say it was just beautiful! So much to see and so little time. Going back next summer so I will have to check out more places to shop I can see! Great pictures, I always enjoy visiting your blog, Marcia
Hi Heather,
I’d like to share a little hidden treasure with you. Twice a year there is a magical antiques show in Bellevue, Idaho (near Sun Valley). The shop is a Victorian fantasy. Rebecca dosen’t have a website, an email address, or even a computer. What she does have is piles of exquistie linens, unique and extrodinary antiques, over-the-top light fixtures, gorgeous hand crafted pillows and purses, jewelry and crowns. She serves home-made cookies and fresh lemonade under the weeping willow in the front garden. She has a wonderful, creative, big-hearted cllientele. As always, her 4th of July show was rich with eye candy at reasonable prices this year. Her next show will be over the Labor Day holiday…then she’ll be closed again until next July. She is located on 2nd Street in Bellevue…you can’t miss it. I hope you and your readers will be in the area and will be able to share in the “Rebecca’s” experience.
I got to visit this shop back in April. I really loved it – you did a wonderful job capturing the soul of the shop in your photographs.
Love the chandelier and those earrings! 🙂
Heather, I have a client who love the light bulb chandelier!! (So do I) Is that something you sell or is that one of a kind. Hope to see you at Marburger. Judy
