Santa Barbara Weekend
The Man and I decided to sneak away to Santa Barbara for a weekend getaway together. As you can see I’ve embraced my 2010 Word whole heartedly. One of our favorite stops along the Pacific Coast Hwy is a darling little town called Summerland. It’s very small and I believe has only one main street which is dotted with several antique stores, cafes and coffee shops. An absolute must see is Botanik. You can see what I mean from the following photos I took…
It seems slightly unfair that southern California has been getting the cream of the crop weather wise. But I hope for those of you who are still under inches of snow and rain that these vibrant fresh green images will turn your thoughts towards your spring planting plans and inspire some new garden designs of your own!
Next post…more gorgeous weather photos from our weekend away. Just thought I should let you know now. ; )

We used to live in Summerland and rent videos from what is now Botanik! It was a treat to walk down the hill and explore their store 🙂 It was fun to see this gem being shared online!
I’ve heard Summerland is a must visit location! Glad you had fun!

What a lovely shop…I’m dreaming of spring!
I love that store! It looks just that fabulous every time I’m lucky enough to visit. I’m glad you had such a warm and wonderful weekend. Thanks for sharing.
I’m heading that direction, this weekend, to see the Sea Elephants along the coast, near Cambria. We saw them, last year, and it was a fantastic experience. This is the peak of the birthing season.

oh I would love to go to that shop!
Your post brought back some memories. We used to live in Ventura County (I’m in Kansas City now) and would travel to Santa Barbara for day trips. I would always try and stop in Summerland for a little shopping. I’m glad someone is having nice weather!

I also lived in Ventura County, in Ventura itself actually. That was back in the 80’s. Thanks for the pictures. I don’t remember ever stopping in Summerland on our way to Santa Barbara. I wish we had. Maybe it wasn’t quite the same then.
I’m jealous… but I still enjoyed the pictures. I’m so ready for spring. It’s been extra cold in Texas and I’m done with the cold weather. I can’t wait to buy plants in the spring. I’m thinking about growing some vegetables this spring/summer. LOVE spring!! Can’t wait to see more pics.
Fabulous! I want to go there….maybe someday!
Thanks for sharing all the loveliness
Happy Day
Love shops like that. Looking forward to seeing more of your photos. Thanks for sharing.
YUMMY!
It’s my dream to go to Santa Barbara! Lucky YOU!!! That store looks amazing. I just love topiaries and box woods and stone planters…was that heaven you were in????

Thank you for the green, here in Maryland, we still have snow on the ground and more on the way….
I’ve been thinking of my new perennial garden that I planted last year…sure hope they all come back.
Wishing you the best in 2010,
Donna
Beautiful! What I wouldn’t give for a little greenery around here right now amongst all this snow!!!! Spring will be here soon though :o)

Truly a feast for the eyes…thank you! smiles.
I love your blog–and the places you visit! What great memories! DH and I lived in his parents’ Summerland beach house when we were first married oh so long ago!!! It IS a delightful little community!
I could smell that earthy smell already. Even here in North Carolina it has been too cold…bring on the sun! Thanks for the inspiration. At least a girl can dream…
OOh fun!!
I love Santa Barbara and Summerland.
You passed right by my house on the way!
Glad you had fun!

What a lovely shop. I’ve always loved that area ever since I went to college at UCSB. Thanks for the refreshing posting for those of us who are still snow-bound. Hope your weekend was a blast.

Oh, my, that looks absolutely beautful! We are at 17 above and we still have lots of snow! I crave spring!
Sweet shop! Anything in that part of California is dreamy for us who live in cold country. Thank you for sharing!
I live in Florida, so I have NO reason to complain about the weather! I do however look forward to spring, and these gorgeous photos remind me just how much I look forward to the arrival of warm sunny days!!
Thanks for sharing this lovely shop with us!
Loved seeing all those big hens and chicks in the flower pots and boxes….mine are buried under feet of snow!
Thanks!
I have lived in Summerland twice, and my mom had a house there for many years. I have such happy memories of that sweet little town, but it has changed so much! BTW, my mom’s *memorial bench* is right down the street in Lookout Park….
That store is soo cute! Thank you for the wonderful stamps! They came so fast and I’ve already put them to good use!!! Jen
Thanks for the inspiration! I forwarded these photos to my husband because I want the cedar chips/mulch laid down on a pathway from our patio to our shed. Now he’ll be able to see how lovely it looks!
WOW that is sooo Lovely! I adore boxwoods in pots…for me It’s not easy to do. I adore that window box with succulents…I have been on a Succulent kick since I saw Teddy CObert who lived in Somis at our local Hospice GArden tour 8 years ago? she made the book the living wreath where it is a wreath to hang of succulents that have been imbeded in bedding and peat moss…she was on Martha too. Luckily my neighbor love them too we have been swapping back and forth. Sweet Local I may have to venture up their with out kiddos..since we buz up for the SB ZOO often.
nice time together good for you

These pictures were great. I would love to have a calendar with pictures like this. Have you seen any out there? Enjoy your blog.
I love this store, I actually walk on the beach there and go for coffee right across the street from Botanik! So glad you enjoyed your visit, did you get to go to Carpinteria? there is a great store there called Porch, it’s another fun visit.
Love your blog.

when i single and still lived in California, on my days off from work ( i lived in Ventura), i would drive over to Summerland, shop a bit, have breakfast at The Yellow House and then go to their beach. i have the best memories of some nice solitude times in that town.
looks beautiful. sigh.
warmest congrats on your mention in romantic homes!

Heather:
I have to keep looking at these beautiful sunny spring photos to remind me that spring is truly going to be here soon in NE. Yet another snowy bleak day today.
Thanks for bringing some sunshine into our lives for us gals during these cold winter days! Your photography is stunning!
How lovely! All of the neutrals, metals, fresh green and terra cotta are so refreshing. We just purchased a clearanced patio set yesterday in anticipation of spring dinners on our covered patio and I can’t wait to add in some lanterns and potted plants for ambiance. This store looks so relaxed but pulled together. Love it.
